My not-so-little cat has not been feeling too well of late. Upon his gradual but drastic weight loss, Gy and I took him to the vet just the other day. And indeed, the little one is more than a little ill. But not due to virus or neglect. It's just because he's way past his prime. As much as I'd like to avoid saying it out loud, he is old. And even though his eyes are still alert, his physicality is no longer able to sustain his mental strength.

Why?!!
Look at how small he has become. Can you believe he was 12 pounds not too long ago?! He must have lost half of his weight.
Anyway, the vet advised us to change his diet. He's no longer allowed to eat the regular cat food that's too high in protein. Instead, he needs to eat more carbs. So the doctor prescribed some porridge, some honey or glucose water, ice-cream if the cat likes it, and the like. Can't help but wonder if it's actually an upgrade of what he was usually fed.

Now the problem is getting him to eat more. Just getting him to eat is a problem in itself. I resorted to force feeding him his food and meds, but it's not really working as he would simply salivate the food out. Gross.
Should he continue to reject food like this, I might have to put him on a drip. I know it sounds extravagant, but anything to make him feel better is worth it.
Gotta keep him happy says the doc. I hope he is and that he knows how much we love him.
